About

Ronald M. Tucker is a pioneering figure in the global blockchain and digital currency industry, serving as the Founder and Chair-Emeritus of the Digital Economy Council of Australia (formerly known as the Australian Digital Currency & Commerce Association and Blockchain Australia). He is a co-convenor of the Global Blockchain Forum, an influential industry body representing trade associations from the US, Canada, the UK, UAE, Singapore, Japan, Australia, and more. Additionally, Ron founded the International Digital Asset Exchange Association (IDAXA).

Having made Australia his home for over a decade, Ron launched Bit Trade Australia in 2013, the country's first successful crypto exchange. A year later, he founded Bit Trade Labs, a blockchain development consultancy, further solidifying his commitment to advancing the blockchain ecosystem.

Ron has been instrumental in shaping blockchain policy and governance in Australia and beyond. He led the successful industry response to the Digital Currency Inquiry by the Senate Economics References Committee in 2015 and organized the Global Digital Currency Conversation forum during the 2014 G20 Leaders’ Summit in Brisbane. His efforts also contributed to the establishment of Australia's Parliamentary Friends of Blockchain Committee.

His work extends to collaborative policy development with officials from Australia, China, and other APAC jurisdictions. Ron’s consultative efforts have resulted in progressive policy and legislative outcomes for the digital economy in multiple regions. Notably, he spearheaded a world-first Digital Currency Code of Conduct, delivering a national self-regulatory mechanism to ensure VASP's AML–CTF best practices, which was subsequently adopted by the government and used as a policy template globally.

Currently, Ron is engaged in consulting and government/industry relations advisory work across the APAC region for the crypto asset industry. He organized the Virtual Asset Service Providers Summit (V20 Summit), an officially endorsed business event of the G20, bringing together major crypto exchanges, national trade associations, regulators like the Financial Action Task Force, the Financial Stability Board and legislators during the 2019 Osaka G20 Leaders Summit and the 2022 Bali G20 Leaders Summit.

Born in Newfoundland, Canada, in 1981, Ron studied IT in Canada and Business Management in Australia. An entrepreneur at heart, he has founded businesses across retail, marketing, technology, government relations, and publishing in the US and Canada. Ron continues to travel extensively for his advisory roles, bringing his vast experience and visionary insights to the global digital economy.
